Our year in review

So here is a little collage of some of the things in our life these days.  Bosco and a new boat!   Scott was gone for 1/2 of 2010, so the year really started in June when he returned.  We promptly moved to Northern Virginia by way of boat, making a left off of the ICW in the Chesapeake Bay onto the Potomac River all the way to the top, WASHINGTON DC!   We are here until June 2011 and by that time, I will have had 1 full year with my hubby!   BLISS!Posted by Picasa

Who's excited?

ME! That's who!

Boats truly are a labor of love, but if you have your best friend with you embarking on the adventure and sharing in everything.

We bought a Back Cove 33 (34'4" LOA) and in the image is the symbol of the bird. (I'll have to find out the significance.)

Since Scott's been gone I've had to go it alone with respect to getting all the paper work squared away and getting her ready for use.

I have to thank my parents for giving me such a great love for boating, sail or motor. I have nothing but the best memories of boating and being a family. Yeah there were some trying times I guess, but I choose to see the good in being a boating family.

I'm hoping that someday my parents, brothers and I can all have a raft up somewhere and share in the experience with the kiddos in tow.

Well, that's it for now.. more boating pics and adventures to come!

LIMBO

For those of you who are thinking about the 'dance' that goes under the stick, yes that is sort of what I'm thinking about. But I'm really thinking about what's next for Scott and I, and we are in 'limbo' regarding where we are moving and what Scott and I would be doing next.

It's all pretty standard with respect to military life and all that involves with being a spouse etc... but it's difficult to explain to family and friends at times.

So to summarize:
1. We do not have orders telling us where we are living next.
2. We are due to hear sometime in April.  (We have hope! ;)  )
3. We are currently pencil'd in to go to Washington DC for 10 months so Scott can attend the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF).

But that could change.

We are hoping that if we are stationed anywhere on the east coast that we would begin our boating adventures by making a boat purchase!  We've been in talks with a boat dealership in Beaufort NC, and as some of you may remember when Scott returned from Iraq the first time in 2007 we spent some time in that town.  Not that we saw any boats that we liked back then but we were surrounded by the 'water' way of life.  Maybe it rubbed off enough on Scott finally!

So there you have it, a summary of where we are at, which is still at Fort Bragg NC and news on where we are going, which is unknown.

The beat goes on....

Karen being honored at the rowing hall of fame

So this is my Sister-in-law, Karen, accepting her award for being inducted into the Rowing Hall of Fame in Mystic CT on 20 MAR 2010. What an amazing time for her and I was thrilled to have been allowed to be witness to this group of rowers honoring her. IMO she epitomizes sportsmanship and although I haven't seen it first hand, I've heard that she is a fierce competitor. (She probably kicks your butt with a devastating smile!)

We had a great time, albeit short, but there were lots of folks to honor and in my mind Karen and her teammate stood out! Two women working so hard to achieve such a great accomplishment (two olympic medals in doubles crew) is something to take note of, it's not easy!

So... there you have it, I'm a proud sister-in-law!

My Moms

Mom's are just great! These are officially my two Mom's... Maria on the right (my biological Mom) and Jeane on the left (my Mother-in-Law). They are very different women but in parallel demonstrate a patience I wish I had! I can learn a lot from these two women if I'd just let them, but sometimes my terrible pride gets in the way. I pray most days that I can exemplify the woman these two ladies already are, and some day maybe I'll have a daughter to share that with, but for now I will pass it on to my nieces!

SO... there you have it.

BTW, this was at Karen's induction into the Rowing Hall of Fame in Mystic CT. More to follow!
